Bringing SNAP to More Children in Atlantic Canada

Bringing SNAP to More Children in Atlantic Canada

On April 4, 2017, BRAVE and Toronto’s Child Development Institute partnered to host an event on evidence-based early intervention in children’s mental health. Held at the Halifax Central Library, the event drew attendees representing government, children’s mental health agencies, hospitals, schools and community organizations from across the Atlantic provinces. Dr. Leena Augimeri from CDI and Dr. Jennifer Bernier from BRAVE presented on both local and national results of the SNAP program, and took questions from those in attendance who are eager to see SNAP expand to reach more children and families in the region. The success of BRAVE in Halifax speaks to the need for early intervention in mental health, particularly in Atlantic Canada where such services are in high demand.

This event was a great success and was showcased by Global News Halifax. To read more about the event and to watch the news feature, click here.

My name is Michele MacDonald, Executive Director of the Wellington & Area Boys and Girls Club on PEI and we are very interested in running the SNAP program at our club. I was at the supper at the Summerside Club and didn’t get a chance to talk to Marissa Silver due to the weather at the time. If you have any information, we would greatly appreciate it!
